Notice to Ratepayers - 2026 Dust Control Program

𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗣𝗔𝗬𝗘𝗥𝗦 – 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗗𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗟 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗠
Starland County will have dust control available for local roads in 2026. The County will supply dust suppression for a minimum distance of 200 meters (656 feet) in front of a residence, industrial or commercial site on a municipal road allowance upon request. The applicant will be responsible for the cost of the dust abatement product and the application equipment. Application rates and material costs will be determined annually on a full cost recovery basis. In addition, application of the product is only available upon receiving sufficient orders to warrant ordering a truckload of product and is also subject to availability. The County will provide a quote for this application, dependent upon the length and width of the roadway to receive abatement, as well as the type of dust suppressant chosen.
Product being offered is:
𝟭. 𝗠𝗚𝟯𝟬 𝗗𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁 is a calcium chloride, magnesium hydroxide solution. An example of the average calculation for this product would be $1,854.00+ GST (This cost is for a 200-meter stretch on a 9-meter-wide road surface) $1.03 per square meter
𝟮. 𝗗𝗟𝟭𝟬 𝗗𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻𝘁 is a softer asphalt emulsion surface spray. An example of the average calculation for this product would be $7,992.00+ GST (This cost is for a 200-meter stretch on a 9-meter-wide road surface) $4.44 per square meter.
All interested customers should contact the Starland County Office for a quote, and then you must submit an application for dust control with payment in full as per the quote. The application can be downloaded from Starland County’s website or picked up at reception in the County office.
Dust control can be requested by the ratepayer up to and including 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝟭𝟱, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲.
All products are intended to provide dust control for one season only. The municipality reserves the right to blade any stretch of road that has the dust control product applied if poor road conditions warrant it. The Public Works Supervisor will contact the customer prior to any blading being done on the dust-controlled area.
