2021-2031 Strategic Plan

DEFINING THE VISION FOR STARLAND COUNTY

Starland County partners with Bloom Municipal Centre for Education to create the 2021-2031 Strategic Plan

Morrin, AB, (May 28, 2021) The Starland County Council and Administration are pleased to announce the release of the 2021-2031 Strategic Plan. County Council worked collaboratively to create an ambitious vision and determine priorities for the County. Strategic planning is always an important process that reviews the challenges and potential for the community. This process has become even more important during the global COVID-19 pandemic.

“The wide-reaching health, economic, and political impacts will have effects across Canada, Alberta, and into Starland County. While this is a moment of uncertainty and could be a moment of fear, we have chosen to search for the opportunities and find hope for our County’s ability to meet the challenges ahead,” says Reeve Wannstrom.

Going through the strategic planning process creates an operational framework that provides Council and Administration with an evidence-based process for decision-making. They completed a municipal scan process to assess current and future challenges and opportunities. The municipal scan process supported the development of strategic objectives that will enable short term solutions and the long-term vision for Starland County.

“This strategic plan is not a beginning or an end, but a bridge to our long-term vision and the tangible actions required to reach that vision. The strategic plan will be our framework that we can use to lead, direct, and make decisions,” says Reeve Wannstrom.

Council presents seven priority focus areas as part of their ten-year strategy plan: economic growth, leadership, communication, community pride, service excellence, financial sustainability, and sustained infrastructure. Each of these priorities are supported by objectives that lay the foundation for action.

“Our next step is to create action plans with Administration. These plans move the vision into reality with concrete tasks. We look forward to rolling up our sleeves and doing the hard work. It will make all the difference to the future wellbeing for the residents and businesses in Starland County,” says Reeve Wannstrom.
