Water Well and Septic Systems

Starland County and the Government of Alberta host workshops for landowners to better understand their water wells and septic systems. 

 

The Government of Alberta has Working Well Workshop webinars where you can learn:

  • The basics of groundwater and how your well works
  • How to protect your well from contamination
  • How to test you well water
  • How to properly operate and maintain your well
  • How and when to shock chlorinate your well
  • What to do with old abandoned wells on your property
  • and more.

The County also hosts Septic Sense Workshops in coordination with the Alberta Onsite Wastewater Management Association (AOWMA) which covers:

  • What a septic system is and how it works 
  • Regulations 
  • Design and installation 
  • Appropriate use of your septic system Maintaining your septic system 
  • Troubleshooting
  • and more.
